Let us remember that “draw” does not mean to give life.

Some say that “draw” equals “actually arriving.” This would seem to negate the “coming.” I note that “draw” and “come” are two different words with two different spellings and two different definitions…even in English…this is also related to John 6 because of the link of the word “draw…”

If all does not mean all in verse 32, then is He only qualified to judge some of the world (verse 31)?

I’m a bit confused with the words “He only draws believers to His Son” in light of John 12:32. Perhaps it would be better rendered “Only the subset of those who believe in Jesus, out of all those who are drawn, will come to Jesus.” Being drawn and coming to Jesus are two different concepts using different words with different spellings and meanings…even in the English…

And now, that the Crucifixion is past tense? In light of John 12:32, it seems all are drawn, and yet we know not all come. Just because one is drawn does not seem to guarantee one comes…

I also love correction…I need it!

…it seems the condition of John 12:32 was the Crucifixion… Has this condition been met? Also, since Jesus is God, wouldn’t God be drawing all to Himself in and as the Christ, meeting the condition laid out in John 6:44?

Looks like that could be what Paul was describing in Romans 11:25…

Cheryl, thank you for this discussion on John 6. You have pointed out that the text does not teach, implicitly nor directly, that all who are drawn come. Jesus (who is God) taught that if He was lifted up in crucifixion, He would draw all to Himself. It would seem that unless Jesus lied, all are drawn since the crucifixion. But the scripture does not teach all will believe.

Ladies I think we made have missed the point a little. Please forgive me for putting in my two cents as well. Understand first that I do not dominate my wife nor is she subject to me. However, Paul says that it is better for a man not to be married so that he may follow Christ without the distractions of being married. He also says that if a man has no self control (that is over his sexual desires) it would be better for him to marry. Furthermore he also says that “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.” (1 Corinthians 11:3)

I do not take this to mean that women have no place in the priesthood just that the man is the head of the family priesthood. As head, men are in a unique prayer position. They, and only they, can offer prayer protection and covering to their wives and children. Nobody else is in the unique position to offer that protection. Yes women may and should pray for their own protection, but I as a man am not in the position to pray over another man’s wife and children, only my own. This is my personal chore as the husband to my wife and father to my children. Very few times has God been witnessed speaking to women directly and He does to men rather often.

Thank you for reading and I hope I haven’t stirred up muddied the water too bad.
