As one who lived in a patriarchal marriage for 8 years, it is akin to emotional rape and I really appreciate you putting it that way.  Except that then, I spent a lot of my private time beating myself up for feeling that way.  I was trained to think that ANY time I didn’t like being “ruled over,” it was because of Gen. 3:16 (their warped interpretation of it—that a woman will always try to rebel against the rightful rule of her husband).

As such, it took me a lot longer to *get* that this was abuse than it should have.  It’s hard to realize something is abuse when both of you have well-intentionedly been following God’s will to the best of your ability (and all your books, teachers, etc, tell you that patriarchy *is* God’s will)!

I’m all for equality in the Trinity, but I’m also against calling a person’s salvation into question over it. Jesus saves, not neat and tidy doctrinal views.

Please sustain this ministry. By Your Spirit, cause it to flourish, Your own Life energizing it, bringing to fruition those things in it that You love. Grow in the hearts of Your servants that they might continue to see You in Your glory in ever-increasing measures, and help them reach those You love who aren’t yet aware of Your goodness.

Give our brothers and sisters wisdom as they try to negotiate how to cooperate with government without losing their saltiness. Gaurd them from the evil one.

Hey, Cheryl, one thing I would appreciate you guys maybe doing a little more research on is the emerging church movement. I noticed in the pamphlet that came with the dvd’s that you guys are presently “anti” it, yet have the same arguments that most folks do who completely misunderstand the movement (such as Slice of Laeodicea, etc).

An excellent “primer” (an accurate primer, too)… Scot McKnight over at JesusCreed.org just wrote an excellent pdf about it… Let me see if I can find a link. It’s worth printing off and reading carefully, because it explains many of the misunderstandings that some have about what emerging actually is.
