Genesis 3: Marriage roles affirmed with increased difficulty post-fall, not introduced
Everything Women Can and Can't Do According to the Bible: Women in Ministry part 13
00:40:00 – 00:41:33
Mike addresses Genesis 3:16 and the fall's effect on marriage roles.
Genesis 3:16 ('your desire shall be contrary to your husband but he shall rule over you') is NOT an introduction of marriage roles but an increase in difficulty of pre-existing roles, just as the curse of thorns increased difficulty in Adam's pre-existing task of farming. Many egalitarians claim Genesis 3 introduces role differences, but the NT clearly interprets them as pre-fall realities. Mike rejected alternate interpretations including the sexual desire reading.
