Mike argues the elder qualifications confirm male-only eldership.
1 Timothy 3:2 requires overseers to be 'husband of one wife' — a euphemism for a man faithful in marriage. This rules out women. A single man like Paul could still qualify (faithful in marriage through abstaining from fornication). Mike has never seen a single example of 'husband of one wife' used in Greek to refer to a woman or mixed-gender group in any text, despite egalitarian assertions to the contrary.
