2 John 1:7 misapplied: Gnostic/Docetic context

JWs misapply 2 John 1:7 ('many deceivers have gone out, denying that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh') to support their spirit-only view. But the passage actually condemns Gnostics/Docetists who denied Jesus had a real physical body. By ironic reversal, this verse condemns the JW position—JWs are modern-day Docetists denying Jesus' physical resurrection and present bodily form.
