Trible acknowledges naming animals is an act of dominion (p. 97 of her book) but fails to separate Eve's naming from that context.
Internal inconsistency in Trible's argument
Trible writes on p. 97 of 'God and the Rhetoric of Sexuality' that the earth creature was 'specifically given dominion over the animals through naming.' She concedes naming implies authority/dominion for animals but draws an arbitrary line at Eve based on the missing noun 'name' -- a distinction Schreiner shows doesn't hold up when Adam classified animals and Eve the same way.
