Q&A — Matthew 21:21 ('if you have faith you can move mountains'): must be interpreted alongside other prayer scriptures — faith, right motives (James 4), and God's will (1 John 5:14)

Bill Johnson's Theology and Movement Examined Biblically. 01:12:39 – 01:14:44

Q&A question from Judah Matthews

Mike refuses to water down Matthew 21:21 but insists it must be read together with: James 4 ('you do not receive because you ask amiss, to spend on your pleasures') and 1 John 5:14 ('if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us'). Faith is the great lever of prayer, but God's will also matters. Mike speculates that the faith described in Matthew 21:21 may itself be divinely imparted — God providing the faith that moves the mountain.
