A professor of ancient scripture at BYU commented in the Journal of BYU Studies that the rediscovery of the Book of Abraham papyri represented a 'far more' significant test of LDS truth claims. Mike also references a Mormon Church religion manual (page 29) that celebrated the Book of Abraham as evidence of Smith's inspired calling, noting that Smith began the translation 'with no formal knowledge of ancient Egypt' and that 'the ability came through the power and gift' of God.
