Jehovah's Witnesses are taught to carry 'blood cards' — documents stating refusal of blood transfusions — in their wallet or on a keychain. The card is intended to inform hospitals and legally prevent transfusions. Additionally, JWs at that time were taught they would not be resurrected and would be annihilated by God if they received a blood transfusion.
