Current JW blood doctrine: whole blood (and four primary components) prohibited; fractions derived from those components are permitted.
Mike describes the current state of the Watchtower's blood policy after the fraction allowances.
Currently forbidden: whole blood, red cells, white cells, plasma, platelets. Currently permitted (as fractions): hemoglobin-based blood substitutes (from red cells), interferons (from white cells), albumin (from plasma). Mike notes that some JWs alive today lived under the regime where albumin was an annihilatable offense and now it is merely a personal choice.
