Mormon definition of God: 'Heavenly Father,' a being who was once a man, died, was resurrected, and progressively became God — and has a wife.

Why Mormons and Christians Can't Understand Each Other 00:02:06 – 00:03:08

The Mormon conception of God is radically different from the Christian one, beginning with the claim that God was once a human being.

In Mormon theology, 'God' typically refers specifically to 'Heavenly Father.' This God was once a mortal man, lived, died, was resurrected, and then became God over time. All divine attributes were acquired progressively. Heavenly Father also has a divine wife. Mike notes this has surface similarities to a separate group he discussed in a prior episode.
