James 2:22-23 says faith 'was active along with his works' and 'was completed by his works,' and quotes Genesis 15:6 ('Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness'). The quote from Genesis 15 goes back decades to the actual salvific event. The faith from Genesis 15 was finally fully demonstrated/completed in the Isaac event of Genesis 22.
