Mike admits he wanted to become egalitarian and deliberately prioritized egalitarian scholars. He read Philip Payne's work, Linda Belleville, and other scholarly egalitarian sources. He found the pop-level egalitarian works 'lousy' but expected the scholarly ones to be compelling. Despite this, he remained complementarian — specifically 'soft complementarian.'
