The 'they're just Christians' dismissal commits the genetic fallacy — disqualifying scholars by association with their conclusions

Skeptics Respond To The Evidence For The Resurrection of Jesus 00:35:29 – 00:36:31

Response to Richard Carrier's dismissal of pro-resurrection scholars as biased Christians

Carrier argues that scholars like William Lane Craig can be dismissed because they are Christians — their belief in the resurrection proves they're biased. Mike points out the circular logic: of course people who examine the evidence and find it convincing will believe in the resurrection (and therefore be Christian) — but that doesn't make them wrong. Disqualifying them on this basis assumes the conclusion that Jesus didn't rise.
