Mark 13:9-13 — the disciples' calling is faithful witness unto death, not watching for signs

Why Jesus Was NOT A Failed Apocalyptic Prophet 00:12:47 – 00:16:55

Mike reads the persecution section of Mark 13 and draws out its theological implication for the disciples' posture.

Disciples will be delivered to councils, beaten in synagogues, tried before governors and kings. The gospel must first be proclaimed to all nations (v.10) — itself implying an extended inter-advent period. Brothers will betray brothers; they will be hated for Jesus' name. The one who endures to the end will be saved. Mike's takeaway: the calling of the disciples (and all Christians) during the delay is not sign-watching but faithful, costly discipleship unto death.
