Luke 21:20-24 — Jerusalem surrounded by armies: partial fulfillment in AD 70, not the abomination of desolation
Key difference between Mark and Luke: Luke gives a different 'sign' — armies surrounding Jerusalem, which Mike connects to AD 70, not the final abomination.
In Luke the sign is armies surrounding Jerusalem (not the abomination), and the response is 'flee.' Mike argues this block (vv.20-24) could be fulfilled before and separately from the abomination of desolation in Mark. The description fits AD 70 precisely: Jerusalem surrounded, desolation near, distress, sword, captivity, trampling by Gentiles. Phrase 'days of vengeance to fulfill all that is written' does NOT mean all Scripture is fulfilled at that moment — Mike cites Matthew 3:15 (Jesus' baptism 'to fulfill all righteousness') to show 'fulfill all' can mean 'a piece of the larger fulfillment.' Then the phrase 'times of the Gentiles are fulfilled' (v.24) introduces an indeterminate pause after AD 70 before the signs of the end begin — possibly related to Romans 11 ('fullness of the Gentiles').
