Belleville's claim that widow requirements parallel elder qualifications -- they don't
Mike addresses Belleville's second argument for widows as elders.
Belleville claims the requirements for enrolled widows 'parallel the qualifications for elders found elsewhere in Paul's writings.' Mike argues they don't actually parallel. Most elder requirements are general good character that apply to anyone. The one unique elder requirement -- 'able to teach' -- is absent from the widow list. Without the teaching requirement, the widow qualifications equally parallel deacon requirements or general godly living requirements.
