Two reasons for women deacons and three counter-arguments
Mike lays out the debate structure on women deacons.
For: (1) Phoebe is called 'deacon' in Romans 16:1-2; (2) 1 Timothy 3's deacon requirements include requirements for women, suggesting female deacons. Against: (1) 'diakonos' means servant, not necessarily the office; (2) 1 Timothy 3:11 is about wives of deacons, not female deacons; (3) Acts 6 selects only men as deacons. Mike will disagree with the 'against' position -- he now holds that women can be deacons.
