Romans 15:8 — Christ as servant of the circumcised fulfilling OT promises
Paired with Galatians 4:4 to further establish Jesus's Jewish identity and Messianic role.
Romans 15:8 reads: 'Christ became a servant of the circumcised to show God's truthfulness.' Mike notes that Paul's identification of Jesus as the Christ (Messiah) is a claim about his Jewish identity and his fulfillment of Old Testament promises. 'Circumcised' = under the law = Jewish. The Messiah was expected to come as a real earthly figure among the Jewish people, not in some distant spiritual realm.
