Romans 10:1-3 — Paul's prayer for Israel: they have zeal but not knowledge; seeking own righteousness

Ben Shapiro, a Catholic Bishop and the Gospel. 00:31:16 – 00:32:18

Mike quotes Paul's direct pastoral statement about Jewish people who have not received Christ

Romans 10:1-3: 'Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to God's righteousness.' Paul says 'zeal' (sincerity) was present — the same ingredient Bishop Barron cited — but it was not enough because they were ignorant of God's true righteousness and substituting their own.
