John 5:45-47 — if you believed Moses you would believe me: encountering Jesus reveals whether one truly believed Moses

Ben Shapiro, a Catholic Bishop and the Gospel. 00:38:27 – 00:40:03

Mike addresses the logical question: what about Ben, who has heard of Jesus but rejected him?

John 5:45-47: 'Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you: Moses, on whom you have set your hope. For if you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote of me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?' Mike argues: a person who truly, properly believed the Old Testament revelation — who had genuine faith in God from the Torah — when they encounter Jesus, will accept him. Encountering Jesus and rejecting him reveals that one did not truly receive Moses. Jesus uses parables as a dividing line to reveal what is already in the heart.
