Free will in heaven: believers will have genuine free will but no desire to sin

Live Q&A - Theology, Apologetics and The Christian Life 00:27:09 – 00:30:16

Viewer asking whether we will have free will in heaven

Mike (noting he sounds like Greg Koukl) argues we will have free will but no desires to sin. Currently the Spirit and flesh coexist in tension (two minds). In heaven, glorification (1 Corinthians 15 — "when this corruption puts on incorruption") will remove sinful desires. 2 Peter describes the new heavens and new earth as where "righteousness dwells" — righteousness as a behavior of its inhabitants. This differs from Calvinism, Mike says, because believers choose this state through repentance and faith.
