Female deacons in the early church focused on ministry to women

Were Women Apostles in the New Testament? Women in Ministry part 5 00:26:29 – 00:27:00

Mike provides historical evidence for gender-specific ministry roles.

There were many female deacons in the early church. The Apostolic Constitutions describes their role: they focused on ministry to women, anointed women with oil for prayer (so men would not be compromised), and assisted in baptizing women. This demonstrates that gender-specific ministry was a recognized practice in the early church.
