"From the beginning" (ap archēs) eyewitnesses in Luke 1:2 defined by Acts 1:21-22

The Gospels Are History Not Myth 00:32:17 – 00:33:18

What Luke means by "from the beginning eyewitnesses."

Luke's phrase "from the beginning" (ap archēs) has a specific technical meaning in his two-volume work. Acts 1:21-22 (the replacement of Judas) stipulates that the new apostle must have been with the disciples "beginning from the baptism of John" through the resurrection. This is the same "beginning" referenced in Luke 1:2 — witnesses who were present for the entire ministry of Jesus from his baptism to his resurrection.
