Preterism: all/most Bible prophecy fulfilled by 70 AD — initially appealing but breaks down under scrutiny.

Lindy Z asks about preterism.

Preterism is the view that all or most Bible prophecy was fulfilled by 70 AD (destruction of the Jerusalem temple). Mike notes he debated on preterism (search "Mike Winger preterism debate" on YouTube). The view is initially appealing because the destruction of Jerusalem does seem to fit some texts. But once you start liking the idea, you begin bending other texts to fit — a form of confirmation bias. Ultimately it fails to account for all the prophetic texts.
