Problem of evil as the strongest argument for atheism: suffering and evil as evidence (not logical disproof) against God's existence
Discussion of atheist arguments
Cameron identifies the problem of evil as the atheist argument he has thought most about. He distinguishes two forms: (1) the logical problem of evil — God and evil cannot coexist (considered dead in academic philosophy); and (2) the evidential problem of evil — suffering and evil are evidence that lowers the probability of God's existence. The evidential form is more live. It is emotionally gripping.
