Q&A: If an atheist accepts that a creator God exists, why should that God be the Christian God? Answer: cosmological arguments narrow the field to monotheism; historical evidence for the resurrection identifies Christianity specifically
Q&A question from Emily Towler about identifying which God among creation stories
Cameron argues two points. First, the cosmological/contingency arguments do not merely lead to "a god" but to an all-powerful, eternal, necessarily-existent, personal being — which rules out pantheism, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. Second, for identifying the specifically Christian God, you look at the historical evidence for the resurrection and the facts surrounding it (crucifixion, burial, empty tomb, post-resurrection appearances, origin of belief among disciples). Mike adds: prophecy and undesigned coincidences are also useful; and one can seek God personally by prayer.
