In John 10 Jesus is the Good Shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep. In John 21 Jesus tells Peter "Feed my sheep / feed my lambs" and then says "follow me." The follow-me command, in the context of Peter being commissioned to shepherd as Jesus did, implies Peter will follow Jesus all the way to death.
