How Old Testament believers were saved by faith before Christ — Romans 4 and Genesis 15:6

Why We Can't Agree on What Faith Is and What We Can Learn From It. 00:35:49 – 00:38:21

Q&A: JoseCJ asks how OT believers were saved before Christ's work on the cross

Mike argues that Old Testament believers were saved the same way New Testament believers are — by faith, not works. Romans 4 makes Abraham the paradigm case: Paul quotes Genesis 15:6, "Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness." Their sins were paid for prospectively by Jesus on the cross; they received grace by responding in faith to what God had revealed to them at that time, even without full knowledge of Christ.
