Problem 4: The slogan results in ignoring good evidence via double standards and special pleading
Fourth of five critiques.
Normal historical examination, applied fairly to the evidence, would lead to affirming the resurrection of Jesus. But the slogan creates a special set of skeptical tools applied only to supernatural/religious claims and not to ordinary claims. Mike illustrates: no one demands alien video evidence for their mother's love; applying the same extraordinary-evidence standard consistently would make all belief impossible.
