Written around 900 BC, Psalm 22 lists specific points of correspondence with the crucifixion of Jesus. Crucifixion as a method was not yet invented when the psalm was written. The psalm also goes beyond the crucifixion to imply resurrection and that Gentiles around the world would turn to the God of Israel. Ancient Jewish sources also identified Psalm 22 as messianic.
