1 John 2:2 — Jesus is the propitiation for our sins and not for ours only but for the sins of the whole world

Limited Atonement, Universalism and why I disagree with both. 00:31:23 – 00:32:26

Winger introduces 1 John 2:2 as perhaps the strongest single verse against limited atonement.

1 John 2:2: 'he is the propitiation for our sins and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.' Surface reading clearly indicates the propitiation extends beyond the author's group to the whole world — meaning the ungodly, those in rebellion. Even proponents of limited atonement acknowledge this is how the verse appears on its surface.
