Resolution: Euthyphro dilemma is a false dilemma — third option is that God IS the good
Mike provides the Christian response to the Euthyphro dilemma
The Euthyphro dilemma is not a true dilemma (which requires exactly two options). The Christian solution is a third option: God wills things and they are good because God himself IS good. Goodness is not something outside God that he conforms to, nor arbitrary because he could will anything. God's nature is the grounding of goodness itself. What God commands is good because it flows from who he is. Scripture says "God is good" — he is the Good, not merely good.
