Q&A: Canaanite genocide — was it genocide, and does God have the right to kill?

My Ministry Update and Q&A 00:28:38 – 00:32:12

Question from Texas Tech asking how to justify God commanding the killing of Canaanites, which skeptics call genocide.

Winger makes two arguments. First: the command was primarily to drive out, not wipe out — these are meaningfully different. Second and more fundamental: God as the judge of all the earth has the moral right to execute judgment on people. He argues it is self-contradictory to use moral judgments against God, who is the very grounding of morality. He also notes that most skeptic objections on this topic are emotional restatements of events, not actual logical arguments.
