Q&A: NIV Morningstar — does the NIV call Jesus Satan?

My Ministry Update and Q&A 00:34:16 – 00:36:23

Question about why the NIV uses "Morningstar" for both Isaiah 14:12 (apparently referring to Satan) and Revelation 22:16 (Jesus).

Winger notes the ESV uses "Day Star" in Isaiah 14:12, not "Morning Star," which already shows the problem is translation-specific. He denies the Bible anywhere calls Jesus Satan. He disagrees that Isaiah 14:12 and Revelation 22:16 use identical titles; examining the original languages would further differentiate them. Worst case, the titles overlap in translation but are distinct concepts. He holds Isaiah 14 refers to Satan.
