Q&A: Why doesn't the death penalty for homosexuality apply today? — Old Testament law and Christ

Why God's Wrath is Good 00:54:09 – 00:55:09

Viewer asks why the Old Testament death penalty for various sins does not apply under the new covenant.

Mike's short answer: the Old Testament law prescribed the death penalty for many sins — sins that most modern Christians have also committed. In Christ, believers are released from the curse of the law. God was giving progressive revelation culminating in Christ, who changes everything. It is confused theology to apply Mosaic death penalties to people outside that covenant framework.
