Biblical justice requires impartiality; modern social justice errs by elevating group rights over equal standards

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 3) 00:12:44 – 00:21:28

Response to viewer Kara Gordon asking whether caring for the marginalized should look different for a Christian than secular socialism or communism.

Mike distinguishes biblical justice from modern social justice. Biblical justice (Exodus 23:2-3; Leviticus 19:15) requires equal weights and measures for all — impartial standards, same punishments for same crimes regardless of group identity. Modern social justice pursues equal outcomes, which requires favoring one group over another. This replaces favoritism for one group with favoritism for another — merely shifting the oppressor/oppressed categories rather than achieving true justice. Mike also argues that measuring racial incarceration percentages is the wrong metric; the right question is whether same crimes receive the same punishment. He also critiques abortion as elevating womens rights by demolishing the rights of the unborn.
