The Enneagram lacks true ancient origins and was developed by a modern mystic with dangerous theology

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 3) 00:24:00 – 00:26:03

Response to Katrina asking about the Enneagram and its origins (desert fathers vs. Catholic origins).

Mike says neither origin story he has heard is accurate. The Enneagram as known today was pushed by a modern mystic (name not recalled) whose broader spiritual teaching is dangerous and ungodly. The question is how much that teacher's problematic theology is embedded in the Enneagram construct. Mike has not deeply researched it partly because he has no personal interest in personality typing systems. He recommends looking for the real modern history rather than trying to trace it to ancient Christianity.
