The Book of 1 Enoch: not Scripture, though it may contain an accurate early portion quoted in Jude

Mike acknowledges that a portion of 1 Enoch appears quoted in Jude. He grants two possible readings: (a) Jude cites a familiar book but the original saying was not really Enoch's; (b) the quoted section is accurate without making the whole composite book accurate. Mike leans toward (b) because 1 Enoch is a composite of writings from very different periods by different authors/communities. Additionally, the Jews of the Second Temple period did not treat it as Scripture.
