Christians have a biblical duty to protect others — pacifism taken to its logical extreme is evil
Question from Spazzy Jazzy about the extent to which Christians should protect and retaliate against abuse
God rebukes Gentile nations in the OT for failing to defend the fatherless, widows, and the oppressed — since this is a rebuke of Gentiles it represents a universal moral expectation for all people. Radical pacifism that refuses to protect others abandons this responsibility and can be wicked. Scripture makes a strong case that even major violence is sometimes appropriate — specifically in minimal defensive violence to protect self or others. The current riot-based "my cause is righteous so I can be violent" logic is not what Mike endorses.
