Paul says "my desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better." Mike argues this language only makes sense if death means immediate conscious presence with Christ. If it were soul sleep (unconsciousness), the urgency of Paul's desire to die would be meaningless — he would not immediately experience being with Christ.
