Birthdays: Jehovah's Witness argument from bad birthday examples in the Bible is fallacious

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 7) 00:29:06 – 00:30:06

Addressing the JW teaching that birthdays are pagan/forbidden

The JW argument: two birthday celebrations in the Bible (Herod's, possibly Belshazzar's) are followed by tragedy, therefore birthdays are evil. Mike argues the tragedy was not because of the birthday but because these were wicked men at the height of their folly. By the same logic, dogs are frequently depicted negatively in Scripture — far more than birthdays — yet no JW teaching condemns dog ownership. The inconsistency exposes the argument as fallacious.
