Total Depravity defined as "total inability" — Mike rejects it

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 8) Fixed and Reuploaded 00:02:31 – 00:05:05

First point of TULIP addressed in detail.

Mike distinguishes popular misconceptions of Total Depravity (man is very sinful, needs Jesus) from the Calvinist distinctive: that an unregenerate person will ALWAYS reject the gospel no matter how much the Holy Spirit is working on them short of regeneration. He also calls this "total inability." He references Genesis where God says His Spirit will not strive with man forever as a text showing the Spirit striving with the unsaved. Mike rejects Total Depravity/total inability, arguing a person can respond to the Holy Spirit and the gospel before being born again, and then upon believing is born again.
