Demon possession: less visible in Western cultures due to secular/medical framing

Mike argues the key difference between Jesus's era (and the third world today) and Western first-world countries is the default interpretive framework. In Westernized cultures, what may be demonic oppression or possession is automatically categorized as a psychological or medical ailment. Mike suggests this could itself be part of Satan's strategy — people controlled by him are less likely to rebel if they don't know the source of their condition. He also notes that third-world countries often have more direct engagement with demonically inspired religions (idol worship, paganism) creating more frequent explicit demonic encounters.
