Greek grammar of John 1:1 — theos/theon and the definite article (ton)

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 9) 00:01:38 – 00:02:39

Mike walks through the Greek text of John 1:1 using Logos Bible Software.

In John 1:1b ("the Word was with God") the Greek has ton theon — theon with the definite article ton. In John 1:1c ("the Word was God") the Greek has just theos with no definite article. JWs argue the absence of the article in 1:1c justifies translating it as "a god."
