Mark 7:27-28 (Syrophoenician woman and children's bread) is not connected to the Eucharist debate

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 9) 00:34:43 – 00:36:16

Question from Caleb Lindsey about whether Mark 7:27-28 supports a spiritual (non-physical) view of the Eucharist.

The passage where Jesus tells the Gentile woman that it is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs is about ethnic priority in Jesus's ministry (Jews first, then Gentiles), not about the nature of the Eucharist. Mike sees no exegetical connection to whether the bread and wine become the physical body and blood of Christ. The proper passage for the Eucharist debate is John 6 (the Bread of Life discourse), not Mark 7.
