If Mark 16:17-18 is original, signs accompanying believers does not mean every believer at all times

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 11) 00:09:47 – 00:11:17

Mike gives a conditional interpretation of Mark 16:17-18 assuming its authenticity

Mike interprets the signs -- casting out demons, speaking in new tongues, picking up serpents, drinking poison without harm, healing the sick -- as accompanying the community of believers in general, especially when the gospel goes to new places. Not a prescription for every individual at all times. The book of Acts is the primary fulfillment, and these things continue occasionally today.

This false-teaching context is foundational for understanding Paul's instructions in 1 Timothy 2:12.
