Matthew 16:28 "some standing here will not taste death" is fulfilled by the Transfiguration, not the Second Coming
Responding to a question from Lucas Callahan about Matthew 16:28 and the failed apocalyptic prophet charge
Mike argues that Matthew 16:28 ('some standing here will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom') is immediately fulfilled by the Transfiguration in every gospel. The chapter break is artificial. Peter, James, and John see Jesus glorified with Moses and Elijah while God the Father speaks from a cloud -- this is Jesus shown in his kingdom glory. Mike notes this interpretation appears in many commentaries but he arrived at it independently by examining the context.
