Worship music evaluation — two questions: is the song sound? Do I want to partner with the movement?

Mike separates two questions: (1) Should worship music contain Scripture and doctrine? Yes, but a simple repeated expression of gratitude is also fine. (2) How to evaluate Bethel and Jesus Culture music: (a) Is this specific song theologically sound? Read the lyrics. They have some great songs and some concerning ones. (b) Do I want to associate with and amplify the movement behind the song? Playing their music in youth ministry could lead some toward Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry and spiritual derailment. He commends Chris Tomlin generally.
