The Documentary Hypothesis (JEDP theory) has largely died out in scholarship; the old version attacked in apologetics works like Evidence That Demands a Verdict is mostly obsolete.

The hypothesis proposed different authors behind Genesis using different divine names (Elohim/Yahweh). Mike says modern scholarship has moved on; a soft version persists but the full hypothesis has largely collapsed. He references the old vs. new versions of Evidence That Demands a Verdict as a marker of this shift.
